The Manager, Infrastructure and Field Operations is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and growth of NetOptiks’ fibre‑optic network. This role oversees all aspects of network quality, maintenance, field operations, and infrastructure expansion to deliver seamless, high‑availability service to customers.
Working collaboratively across the organization, including Sales, internal and contracted Network Technical Support, and senior leadership, the Manager leads the planning and execution of fibre expansion projects, identifies opportunities to extend service coverage, and ensures operational excellence in day‑to‑day network performance.
This position plays a critical role in shaping the future of NetOptiks by driving continuous improvement, optimizing field operations, and supporting strategic growth initiatives.
What You Will Do:
- Lead strategic and operational planning for the NetOptiks business unit, including network expansion, financial forecasting, and risk mitigation.
- Stay current with fibre and network technologies to maintain an advanced, reliable infrastructure.
- Manage staffing, performance, and contractor resources to support ongoing operations and future growth.
- Oversee network documentation, including service and asset maps, data centres/micro‑POPs, and Ontario One‑Call requirements.
- Collaborate with Sales to prioritize expansion areas and support pricing and service model development.
- Plan and execute infrastructure expansion projects, securing required permits, resources, and contractors.
- Monitor external construction or factors impacting service, proactively communicating risks and planned interruptions.
- Conduct regular network performance testing and respond to emergent issues, including participation in an on‑call rotation.
- Review, validate, and process invoices for field and infrastructure operations.
What You Will Bring
- Post‑secondary education with strong financial acumen and reporting skills.
- 7+ years’ experience in network management or telecommunications.
- In‑depth understanding of fibre‑optic networks, current technologies, and infrastructure best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to assess risk and make informed business decisions.
- Experience developing annual business plans, forecasting resources, and managing operational and expansion projects.
- Knowledge of Ontario’s utility/energy sector and relevant privacy legislation.
- Familiarity with the Ontario One‑Call system and locate processes.
- Experience in the telecommunications sector, including awareness of CRTC regulations and available industry programs.
